22 Nosler Build Thoughts

I know a 14 twist wont be everyone choice for a 22cal. I said i chose it because i had a 14 twist barrel on the shelf but when you think about it i am shooting 50gr projies in a 22-250AI so it makes sence to run 40's in this. Most of my 223's are set up to run 80gr projies so an option to shoot 40's is a good on to have. When Col fitted the barrel he left it at 27" which is how Lilja deliver them. I considered chopping the barrel at 22" but for the time being i will leave it where it is. With my load data quickload predicted a velocity of 4039fps, if i drop the barrel length to 22" it predicts 3854fps. Assuming the 100fps variation on a 27" barrel is roughly the same on a 22" barrel it will mean a velocity around 3750fps which is still handy out of a shorter barrel length. I need to find some time to shoot some critters with it and see how the barrel length feels when handling it.
